Medford, OR – Two midweek cold fronts will bring rain and snow to northern California and southern Oregon this week. Rain is expected across the region from Tuesday through Thursday, with snowfall likely along the Cascades.

According to the National Weather Service in Medford, snow levels will drop to 4,500-5,000 feet Thursday night. The area could see between 1 to 4 inches of snow by Friday morning. Temperatures will fall below freezing in parts of the region, especially east of the Cascades, on Wednesday and Thursday nights.

Residents should prepare for possible hazardous travel conditions. Slush and ice could accumulate on roads, particularly in the higher mountain passes. Debris and oils could also create slick surfaces on roadways. Agricultural and residential areas may experience impacts on plant health and animal safety.

The weather system marks the beginning of fall’s active weather patterns. Awareness of rapidly changing conditions is encouraged.
