Charleston, WV – A cold front is expected to impact parts of West Virginia this evening, with rain and storms likely. Communities along I-64 and surrounding areas should prepare for possible showers later tonight and again on Sunday. Saturday will offer a dry break before the next round of weather.

According to the National Weather Service in Charleston, light showers may develop as early as Friday afternoon, with a 25% chance of rain between 3 p.m. and 6 p.m. For those in Charleston and surrounding regions, Friday evening brings an increased chance of precipitation, up to 40%. Saturday is forecasted to remain clear with sunny skies and a high near 81°F. The dry weather is expected to hold through the day, making it ideal for outdoor plans.

However, a second cold front will move into the region late Sunday, increasing the likelihood of storms. The probability of rain Sunday night climbs to 65%, especially along the I-64 and I-79 corridors. Winds may increase, and some areas could see thunderstorms by midnight.

Drivers are encouraged to remain cautious, especially during periods of rain on Sunday. If traveling on I-64 or I-79, expect reduced visibility and wet roads as conditions worsen into the evening. Local residents should secure outdoor items and be prepared for possible thunderstorms overnight Sunday.

The beginning of next week looks cooler and dry, with sunny skies forecasted for Monday and Tuesday. Highs will dip to the low 70s, and overnight lows may fall to 43°F by Monday night, bringing a brisk start to the week.
