Nashville, TN – Freezing temperatures will grip Middle Tennessee this week as a significant cold front sweeps into the area. Today’s rain will give way to a sharp temperature drop, leading to frost and freezing conditions through Saturday.

According to the National Weather Service in Nashville, temperatures will fall to the mid-30s tonight, with lows dropping into the 20s by Wednesday night. Winds up to 20 mph will amplify the cold, creating a biting chill across the region. Daytime highs Wednesday and Thursday are forecasted to reach only the low 50s and 40s, making this one of the coldest weeks of the season so far.

Residents are urged to prepare their homes and families for the freezing weather. Protect outdoor pipes with insulation or by letting faucets drip to prevent freezing. Bring pets and potted plants indoors to avoid exposure to frost, and check on vulnerable neighbors.

Rain is expected to taper off today but could leave slick patches on roadways, particularly on I-24 and I-65 during the morning and evening commutes. Drivers should reduce speed and stay alert for icy spots.

Looking ahead, the five-day forecast predicts mostly sunny skies by Thursday and Friday, but overnight lows will remain near freezing through the weekend. Saturday and Sunday will see temperatures begin to rebound slightly, with highs in the mid-50s.
