Lubbock, TX – A winter chill continues in Lubbock as morning flurries and snow showers are expected Thursday, mainly southwest of the city. High temperatures will struggle to surpass the mid-30s, keeping roads potentially slick and visibility low during peak commuting hours.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS), snow accumulation is expected to remain under half an inch but could affect travel, especially along roads west of Lubbock. Drivers are urged to exercise caution and allow extra travel time. Winds from the southwest at 5-10 mph may create additional wind chill, making it feel even colder than the forecasted temperatures.

Thursday’s high will be near 36°F, with skies remaining cloudy throughout the day. By Thursday night, temperatures will dip to a frigid low of 25°F, with conditions clearing overnight. Residents can expect a gradual warming trend by the weekend, with sunny skies and highs reaching 56°F on Saturday.

For the rest of the week, Friday will remain cold but sunny, with a high near 41°F. The weekend offers relief from the winter chill as temperatures climb into the mid-50s by Saturday, accompanied by clear skies. Sunday will continue the warm trend with a high near 46°F before dropping into the low 20s overnight.

Stay informed by checking local weather updates and preparing for potential delays Thursday morning. Keep winter safety kits in your vehicle, and limit outdoor exposure during the coldest parts of the day.
