Marquette, MI – Residents in Marquette, Michigan, should brace for a wet and windy Halloween as a cold front moves through the Upper Peninsula today, bringing rain, possible thunderstorms, and strong gusts. Showers are likely through the afternoon, with temperatures dipping sharply overnight. Those planning outdoor activities should consider moving indoors, as slick roads and flooded areas may pose safety risks.

According to the U.S. National Weather Service, today’s high temperatures, reaching up to 70 degrees in some areas, will drop to the mid-40s overnight as the front moves through. Winds from the southwest at 10 to 15 mph, gusting up to 25 mph, will shift northwest tonight, bringing colder air and a chance of thunderstorms. The stormy pattern will persist through Thursday, with rain potentially turning into a rain-snow mix late Thursday night into early Friday.

On Friday, colder temperatures will settle over the region, with highs ranging between 40 and 48 degrees. Chilly northwest winds will trigger lake effect snow showers, particularly along the eastern areas of Lake Superior. By Friday night, temperatures may plummet to lows in the mid-20s to mid-30s, leading to a frosty start to the weekend.

Saturday offers some reprieve with mostly sunny skies and highs in the mid-50s, while rain and snow chances return late Saturday night and into Sunday. The extended forecast hints at a colder pattern setting in, signaling that winter weather may be around the corner. Residents should prepare for potential travel disruptions and dress warmly in the coming days as temperatures fluctuate.
