Newport, NC – Coastal flooding continues to affect Newport and nearby areas today, with conditions worsening during high tides. Residents in low-lying areas along the coast should prepare for up to 1 to 2 feet of water above ground level. The worst flooding is expected during today’s 12:00 PM high tide and will continue through Tuesday afternoon.

According to the National Weather Service, the most affected areas include Newport, Jacksonville, and Morehead City. High tide flooding is expected to make key routes difficult to navigate, especially on major roads such as U.S. Route 70. Authorities recommend avoiding unnecessary travel during high tide periods and staying tuned for updates.

Sunday’s forecast predicts mostly cloudy skies with temperatures around 80°F. Monday will bring clearer skies and continued warm conditions with a high of 80°F. However, flooding concerns remain high through midweek, so locals should remain vigilant and take necessary precautions. Coastal flood warnings will remain in effect until conditions improve.
