Cincinnati, OH – A Flood Watch has been expanded across southern Ohio due to increased rainfall predictions. Heavy rain is expected from Saturday afternoon through Sunday morning, potentially causing flooding in low-lying areas.
According to the National Weather Service (NWS) Wilmington, a light wintry mix will transition into steady rain by Saturday afternoon. The heaviest downpours will occur Saturday evening, with rainfall totals reaching up to five inches in some locations.
The Flood Watch covers Cincinnati, Columbus, and surrounding areas, with an elevated risk of flash flooding. Residents should prepare for road closures, ponding on highways, and rising creeks or rivers. The Weather Prediction Center has placed much of the region under a moderate risk for excessive rainfall.
Officials urge residents to monitor local forecasts, avoid flooded roads, and have an emergency plan. More updates will follow as the storm progresses.
