Chicago, IL – Residents across the Chicago region will face biting cold and potential snowfall as temperatures dip early next week. Porter County, Indiana, could see lake effect snow Monday, forecasters say.
According to the National Weather Service (NWS), wind chills will plummet to single digits Saturday and Sunday mornings, creating hazardous conditions. On Monday, temperatures are forecasted to range between 28 and 33 degrees, with lake effect snow possible in Northwest Indiana. Snowfall accumulations remain uncertain, but slick roads may disrupt travel.
The extended forecast shows another snow chance Tuesday night into Wednesday as temperatures hover near freezing. Until then, Chicagoans should prepare for bitter cold, with lows falling as low as 9 degrees this weekend.
The NWS advises layering up and limiting outdoor exposure to prevent frostbite during the coldest periods. Motorists in Porter County should remain cautious as visibility may drop during lake effect snow events.
