Chicago, IL – Chicago residents should prepare for periods of rain and possible thunderstorms today as autumn kicks off with active weather. The rain is expected to end by late this afternoon or early evening, bringing mostly dry conditions for Monday. Drivers along I-55 and I-80 should remain cautious as wet roads and reduced visibility will affect travel.
According to the National Weather Service, there’s another chance of rain Monday night into early Tuesday, particularly south of I-80. Highs today will reach 70 to 75 degrees with lows in the 50s. Conditions are expected to improve midweek, with sunshine and mild temperatures Wednesday and Thursday, ranging between 71 to 78 degrees.
Meanwhile, dangerous swimming conditions along Lake Michigan’s southern shores, from Chicago to Indiana, will persist through Monday night. Waves of up to 10 feet and life-threatening rip currents are expected. Visitors are urged to avoid swimming, boating, or engaging in water activities until conditions improve Tuesday.
