Chicago, Illinois – Temperatures in Chicago are expected to climb into the 70s by midday today before a cold front moves through, bringing a significant drop in temperatures by the afternoon. The warm conditions will be short-lived, especially near the lakefront, where cooler air will set in earlier than farther inland.
According to the National Weather Service, high temperatures today are expected to reach between 70°F and 80°F across much of Illinois, but the cooling effect of the cold front will be felt soon after midday, with temperatures falling significantly by late afternoon. Areas closer to Lake Michigan will experience more drastic temperature drops.
Wednesday will bring much cooler conditions with highs in the mid-50s along the lake and around 70°F inland. Clear skies are expected to follow the cold front, setting the stage for sunny and warmer weather through the weekend. Highs by Friday will range from 61°F to 70°F, with Saturday warming to 72°F to 77°F.
Residents are advised to dress in layers today as temperatures will fluctuate throughout the day. Expect plenty of sunshine and warming temperatures for the remainder of the week, perfect for outdoor activities.
