Chicago Weather Update: Thunderstorms, Flooding Risks Through Saturday

Chicago, IL – The Chicagoland area is preparing for a stormy weekend as scattered showers are expected to commence Friday afternoon, with coverage increasing into the evening. Thunderstorm chances are projected to rise significantly by Friday night.

According to the US National Weather Service Chicago, some storms could produce strong winds, hail, and flooding risks. The weather service has indicated a 60-80% chance of thunderstorms on Friday night, with temperatures ranging from 68 to 72 degrees.

Saturday will see continued storm activity, particularly from the northwest to the southeast, with a 30-50% chance of thunderstorms. Temperatures will be higher, ranging from 86 to 90 degrees. These conditions may bring further risks of hail and localized flooding.

Showers and storms are expected to diminish by Saturday morning, giving way to cooler and drier conditions. Sunday will feature partly cloudy skies with highs between 71 and 77 degrees. The trend of cooler weather continues into Monday with mostly sunny skies and highs from 74 to 80 degrees, cooler near Lake Michigan.
