Chicago, Illinois – Steady showers and lingering clouds are keeping Illinois cool and damp through Thursday, with highs struggling to break into the 60s near Lake Michigan.

According to the National Weather Service in Chicago, the region remains under the influence of a slow-moving system bringing periods of light to moderate rain through Thursday night. Daytime highs will range from 60–67°F today and Thursday, with cooler readings closer to the shoreline. Overnight lows will hover in the low 50s.

Drivers across Cook, Lake, and DuPage counties should prepare for reduced visibility and slick roads, especially during the morning and evening commutes. Umbrellas and rain gear will be essential for those heading out. No flood alerts have been issued, but ponding on roadways remains possible in low-lying areas.

By Friday, temperatures will begin to climb into the upper 70s, with isolated thunderstorms possible. Saturday could bring highs near 80°F across much of the state, though a few coastal areas may stay in the upper 60s.

Showers taper off by Thursday night, but brief pop-up storms may return over the weekend. Stay tuned for updated advisories as the system clears out.
