Chicago, IL – Another storm system will bring accumulating snow to the Chicago area Friday afternoon and evening, potentially disrupting travel. The National Weather Service warns of hazardous road conditions, especially north of I-80.
According to the National Weather Service, snowfall could reach 1 to 4 inches, with heavier amounts north of I-80. The snow may mix with or turn into a wintry mix south of I-80 late Friday into Saturday morning.
Blustery conditions will follow the storm, with temperatures dropping into the teens and wind chills near zero. Travel impacts are likely, especially during the Friday evening commute. Drivers should prepare for slick roads and reduced visibility.
The snow may continue or redevelop overnight into early Saturday, adding to accumulations. A few more inches are possible in some areas before the system moves out.
