CHICAGO, IL – Rain and drizzle are expected to develop tonight across the Chicago area as a cold front moves in. Unseasonably mild temperatures through Monday will give way to sharply colder weather midweek, with snow chances arriving Wednesday.

According to the National Weather Service, drizzle is most likely east of I-55 tonight, with steady temperatures near 46 degrees. Monday will remain dry, with highs near 50, but expect increasing cloud cover and cooling temperatures late. By Tuesday, daytime highs will dip to the mid-30s, setting the stage for potential snow Wednesday morning.

Wednesday’s forecast includes a slight chance of snow before noon, with highs struggling to reach 26 degrees. Winds could make it feel significantly colder, especially in the morning. By Thursday, temperatures will plummet even further, with highs only reaching 19 degrees and wind chill values expected to drop below zero.

Drivers along I-55 and other major roadways should remain cautious tonight as slick spots may develop with drizzle. Wednesday’s snow chances could create additional hazards for the morning commute.

Residents are encouraged to dress warmly and check on vulnerable neighbors as temperatures continue to fall. Wind chills could pose risks of frostbite for those exposed to the elements Thursday.

Looking ahead, a slight warm-up is possible Friday, with highs in the mid-30s, but another round of precipitation may arrive by the weekend. For up-to-date forecasts, visit weather.gov/chicago.
