Cheyenne, WY – A High Wind Watch has been issued for parts of southeastern Wyoming, including the North Snowy Range Foothills and sections of the Laramie Range, beginning late Friday night and continuing through Saturday morning.
According to the National Weather Service in Cheyenne, winds in the affected areas are expected to range from 25 to 35 mph, with gusts reaching up to 60 mph. This advisory applies to locations such as Arlington and Elk Mountain along Interstate 80, as well as Bordeaux and the I-80 summit between Cheyenne and Laramie.
The main concern is for transportation safety, particularly for lightweight and high-profile vehicles, including campers and tractor-trailers, which could face hazardous crosswinds.
Residents and travelers are advised to stay informed and monitor the latest weather updates. Officials recommend avoiding travel during the period of strongest winds if possible.
