CHANNAHON, IL – Book lovers looking to stretch their legs and their minds can join a unique outdoor reading experience on Tuesday, July 8, at Four Rivers Environmental Education Center.

Hosted in partnership with the Three Rivers Public Library District, “These Books Are Made for Walkin’” is a walking book club that invites participants to discuss By the Fire We Carry by Rebecca Nagle while strolling the scenic trails of Four Rivers from 6 to 7 p.m.

According to the Forest Preserve District of Will County, the program is free and open to anyone age 14 or older. Registration is required by Monday, July 7, through the District’s Event Calendar at ReconnectWithNature.org.

Participants can pick up a copy of the book at the Channahon branch of the Three Rivers Library, where they’ve been available for checkout since early June. The event encourages meaningful discussion in a relaxed, natural setting—perfect for readers who enjoy a blend of fresh air and thoughtful conversation.

Four Rivers Environmental Education Center is located within McKinley Woods and features riverfront trails, prairie landscapes, and frequent wildlife sightings, creating an ideal backdrop for this nature-based literary gathering.

The event is part of the Forest Preserve’s ongoing effort to promote lifelong learning, wellness, and outdoor engagement throughout Will County.
