Spokane, WA – Drivers across Spokane and nearby areas are urged to use caution today as freezing fog and drizzle create hazardous road conditions. A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect until 1 p.m., with temperatures hovering between 27 and 32 degrees, leading to slick surfaces, especially on Cheney-Spokane Road and other local routes.
According to the National Weather Service, freezing fog is reducing visibility and making untreated roads particularly dangerous for morning and midday travelers. Spokane is reporting a current temperature of 34 degrees, but surrounding areas, especially in lower elevations, are experiencing colder conditions. Travelers are encouraged to allow extra time and check road conditions through WS DOT before heading out.
Looking ahead, Spokane residents should prepare for a mix of winter weather this week. Wednesday will remain cloudy, with highs near 35 degrees. Snow chances increase starting Thursday, with a 30% likelihood of light snow expected after 10 a.m. Accumulation is predicted to be minimal but could affect commutes.
Friday brings a slight chance of snow early in the day, transitioning to a rain-and-snow mix by evening as temperatures rise to 39 degrees. Precipitation becomes more likely on Saturday, with snow mixing into rain at higher altitudes.
To stay safe, drivers should keep winter gear handy and plan for potential travel disruptions. Follow updates from local authorities and monitor evolving conditions.
