Green Bay, WI – Early morning commuters in central Wisconsin and the Fox Valley are urged to drive cautiously as freezing drizzle has created slick conditions on untreated roads and sidewalks. The National Weather Service reports that light snow and drizzle developed overnight, leaving a thin layer of ice in some areas.
According to the NWS Green Bay, untreated surfaces, including sidewalks and rural roads, are particularly hazardous early today. Travelers are advised to allow extra time for their morning commute and reduce speed to avoid accidents. Pedestrians should exercise caution on icy walkways.
Temperatures are hovering around 31°F this morning, with cloudy skies expected to persist throughout the day. Precipitation is forecast to taper off by mid-morning, followed by partly cloudy conditions in the afternoon. Winds from the west will reach speeds of 8 to 10 mph, contributing to a chilly feel despite daytime highs reaching 30°F.
Looking ahead, the region will see a cold front arrive Thursday night, bringing clear skies but dropping temperatures to as low as 8°F by Friday morning. Over the weekend, expect sunny conditions, with highs ranging from 20°F to 25°F. Sub-zero wind chills are likely starting Friday night, emphasizing the need for residents to bundle up and limit outdoor exposure.
With slick roads and freezing conditions expected to persist through the morning, authorities recommend monitoring local weather updates and delaying travel if possible.
