Austin, Texas – Scattered thunderstorms and highs near 100°F are making for a steamy Tuesday across Central and South Texas, with storms most likely along and east of the Interstate 35 corridor by late afternoon.
According to the National Weather Service Austin/San Antonio office, temperatures will range from the upper 80s in Cuero to 99°F in Del Rio and Eagle Pass today, while brief downpours and lightning could affect travel in Gonzales, La Grange, and Cuero. Rain chances remain modest—40% at most—but gusty winds up to 25 mph could accompany isolated storms. Most other cities, including San Antonio and Austin, have a 15–20% rain chance through Tuesday night.
Cities like Fredericksburg, New Braunfels, and Kerrville will see seasonable highs in the low 90s, with low humidity relief. Temperatures will remain elevated through Sunday, and areas west of I-35 should expect drier conditions with highs in the upper 90s throughout the week.
Drivers should remain cautious during sudden downpours, especially along U.S. 183 and Texas 71. Secure outdoor items and stay weather-aware for brief power outages or gusty wind near storm cells.
Seasonal heat continues, with limited rain chances returning Friday into the weekend for some areas east of I-35.
