State College, PA – A winter storm is expected to impact Central Pennsylvania starting Sunday morning, bringing a mix of snow and freezing rain that will transition to plain rain by Monday. Authorities are urging caution for those traveling during this time.
According to the National Weather Service, a Winter Weather Advisory has been issued for multiple counties, including Warren, McKean, Potter, and Tioga. Accumulations of snow will range from 1 to 4 inches in affected areas, with a light glaze of ice likely. The advisory times vary by region but extend from late Sunday morning through early Monday.
In McKean and Warren Counties, snow is forecast to begin at 10 a.m. Sunday, changing to freezing rain by evening and finally rain as temperatures rise early Monday. Similar conditions are expected in Cameron, Elk, and Clearfield Counties.
Northern areas like Potter and Tioga Counties may see heavier snowfall of up to 4 inches starting in the afternoon. Hazardous road conditions are likely across the advisory area, particularly during the Monday morning commute.
Travelers are encouraged to monitor road conditions by dialing 511 and allow extra time for travel.
