Raleigh, NC – Central North Carolina experienced significant snowfall and freezing rain from Friday afternoon through Saturday morning, leaving icy roads and accumulations across the region.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Raleigh, Davidson County reported the highest snowfall totals. East Thomasville saw up to 2.1 inches of snow early Saturday morning. Other notable snowfall totals include 2.5 inches in Roxboro, Person County, and 2.3 inches in Stokesdale, Guilford County. Wake County measured one inch of snow near Raleigh-Durham International Airport.

Freezing rain also impacted the region, with ice accumulations reaching up to 0.15 inches in Montgomery County near Biscoe. Cumberland County reported 0.11 inches of ice accumulation near Hope Mills.

The NWS shared maps detailing snowfall and freezing rain totals. Areas near Greensboro and Winston-Salem recorded between 2 and 3 inches of snow, while ice accumulations remained under 0.25 inches across most areas.

Drivers faced slick road conditions throughout the affected counties. Officials urged caution, particularly in areas with higher ice and snow totals, as temperatures remained low Saturday morning.

Forecasters predict improving weather over the weekend, but lingering icy spots could pose hazards on less-treated roads. Residents are advised to monitor local updates for safety and travel conditions.

This winter storm is a reminder of North Carolina’s varying weather patterns and the importance of preparedness during severe weather events.
