Hastings, Neb. – A stretch of hot, dry weather across central Nebraska will give way to scattered thunderstorms by Saturday afternoon and again late Monday, with temperatures hovering in the mid to upper 80s through the weekend.

According to the National Weather Service in Hastings, a slight chance of showers and storms could develop Saturday between 1 p.m. and 4 p.m., with another round possible after 4 p.m. Precipitation chances remain low at 20%, but isolated downpours or brief lightning could impact outdoor plans. Monday night poses a more significant threat, with a 60% chance of thunderstorms likely after 1 a.m. and into Tuesday morning.

Daytime highs will reach 85°F Saturday and climb to 88°F Monday before dipping midweek. Winds will stay mild, averaging 5 to 10 mph, shifting from the north on Saturday to the south by Sunday. Expect mostly clear skies at night, with overnight lows between 55°F and 63°F.

Residents planning weekend events should remain weather-aware and monitor radar updates, especially for outdoor gatherings. Charge devices and secure outdoor furniture ahead of Monday night’s storms, which may bring stronger gusts and downpours.

Storm chances linger into Tuesday, with additional showers possible through Thursday across the Hastings area.
