Indianapolis, Indiana – Spring storms may return to Central Indiana just in time for Thursday night travel, with gusty winds and rain likely across the region.

According to the National Weather Service in Indianapolis, showers and isolated thunderstorms could develop late Thursday night, with more widespread activity continuing into Friday. While severe weather isn’t expected at this time, residents in Marion, Hamilton, Hendricks, and surrounding counties should prepare for heavy downpours, lightning, and breezy conditions. South winds may gust up to 25 mph, especially near open roads like I-70 and I-65.

Rain chances rise sharply again Friday night into Saturday morning, continuing a pattern of unsettled spring weather that began earlier this month. Although these storms are forecast to remain below severe limits, localized ponding and poor visibility could affect both morning and evening commutes.

What to do: Hoosiers are encouraged to check windshield wipers, avoid flooded roads, and delay unnecessary travel during active storms. Secure loose outdoor items by Thursday afternoon as gusts pick up.

Tuesday and Wednesday offer a calmer window, with clear skies and highs between 74°F and 80°F. Sunshine dominates until clouds return late Wednesday night.
