Indianapolis, Indiana – Scorching heat and growing storm chances are putting much of Indiana on alert as a Heat Advisory remains in effect through Friday. Highs in the low to mid-90s and humidity could push heat index values above 100°F, with the best chance for thunderstorms expected Friday night.
According to the National Weather Service in Indianapolis, afternoon and evening storms will remain possible through Monday, with the highest rain chances (up to 70%) on Friday and Saturday. The most intense storms may bring brief heavy rain, lightning, and gusty winds. Monday night brings another surge in storm potential across central Indiana.
Cities including Bloomington, Muncie, and Terre Haute should expect steamy conditions, while Indianapolis commuters could see slowdowns from wet roads late Friday. Outdoor workers are urged to take frequent breaks, stay hydrated, and avoid peak heat between 2 and 6 p.m.
This marks one of the hottest stretches so far this June, with continued instability into the weekend. While relief comes Tuesday with clearer skies and highs in the 80s, further advisories are possible if storms become severe.
