Indianapolis, Indiana – After a frosty start, Indiana will see a dramatic warm-up by Friday, with temperatures climbing into the upper 70s and low 80s—but the spring heat comes with a price: a heightened risk for evening and overnight thunderstorms Friday, followed by multiple rounds of rain through the weekend.

According to the National Weather Service in Indianapolis, overnight lows Tuesday into Wednesday morning will drop into the low to mid-30s, prompting frost concerns across central Indiana. Highs will steadily rise, reaching the mid-60s by Thursday and approaching 80 degrees Friday afternoon. Storms are most likely Friday night, with a 70% chance of rain continuing into Saturday and a 60% chance on Sunday.

Cities including Bloomington, Muncie, and Lafayette should prepare for potential gusty winds and heavy downpours starting late Friday. Outdoor plans may be impacted, and residents are urged to secure loose items and check weather alerts frequently.

This will be the first significant storm event since early spring, with rainfall totals possibly exceeding an inch in some areas by Sunday. Thunderstorm chances could shift, so stay tuned for updated warnings later this week.
