Indianapolis, Indiana – Scattered showers and cooler-than-normal temperatures will drench central Indiana through Tuesday evening, slowing commutes and dampening outdoor plans across the state.

According to the US National Weather Service in Indianapolis, rain coverage is expected to increase late Tuesday morning and continue through the afternoon and evening, with highs ranging from 64 to 71 degrees. Showers will likely return on Wednesday, potentially bringing isolated thunderstorms to the area.

Drivers should expect wet roads and reduced visibility, especially during the evening rush. In Marion, Hamilton, and Hendricks counties, light rainfall could transition into localized downpours by late afternoon. The Indiana Department of Transportation urges caution on I-65 and I-70 due to slick pavement and possible pooling.

Conditions are expected to gradually improve by Thursday, with partly sunny skies and highs in the low to mid-70s. The weekend outlook shows a warming trend, with temperatures climbing into the 80s by Saturday.

Residents should keep devices charged and secure outdoor items ahead of possible thunderstorms. Stay tuned to the National Weather Service for updates, as additional advisories may be issued if storm activity increases Wednesday.
