Indianapolis, IN – A significant winter storm is set to impact central Indiana from Sunday morning through Monday afternoon, with snowfall totals ranging from 4 to 8 inches. The National Weather Service (NWS) issued a Winter Storm Warning early Saturday, urging residents to prepare for hazardous travel conditions and possible power outages.
According to the NWS, the warning begins at 10 a.m. Sunday and lasts until 1 p.m. Monday. Heavy snow is expected across the region, with isolated higher accumulations south of Interstate 70. Gusting winds up to 35 mph may bring down tree limbs and power lines, adding to potential disruptions.
The hardest-hit areas could see varying snowfall amounts over short distances due to a sharp gradient near Indianapolis. Commuters should anticipate dangerous road conditions and reduced visibility during Monday’s rush hours.
Residents are advised to stay off the roads if possible. If travel is necessary, ensure vehicles are winterized and equipped with emergency kits.
