Indianapolis, IN – Snowfall is expected to create hazardous travel conditions across parts of central Indiana and central Ohio through Friday morning, according to the National Weather Service in Wilmington, Ohio.
The Winter Weather Advisory, in effect until 10 a.m. Friday, warns of total snow accumulations of up to one inch in most areas, with isolated locations potentially seeing as much as two inches. The affected region includes cities such as Indianapolis, Richmond, Dayton, and Columbus, along with numerous smaller communities.
According to the advisory, roads, bridges, and overpasses are likely to become slick and hazardous, particularly during the Friday morning commute. Drivers are advised to reduce speeds, increase following distances, and remain alert for icy conditions on untreated surfaces.
Residents are also urged to exercise caution when walking on sidewalks, driveways, and stairs, as icy patches may increase the risk of falls. Motorists in Indiana can check real-time road conditions at 511in.org, while Ohio residents are encouraged to visit ohgo.com for updates.
The weather service reminds travelers to allow extra time for morning commutes and to avoid unnecessary travel during the early hours of Friday if possible.
