CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – A stretch of calm weather in central Illinois will come to an end this week as multiple rounds of showers and thunderstorms are set to move into the region starting Thursday.

According to the National Weather Service, hazy, smoky skies will be present at times on Tuesday, but the day will remain generally pleasant with temperatures in the upper 70s. Wednesday offers a sunnier and warmer outlook, with highs pushing toward 90 degrees, providing a final clear day before the weather turns.

Beginning Thursday, the probability for rain and storms is 30-40%, increasing through Friday. The most significant day for storms appears to be Saturday, with a 60% chance across the state, affecting communities including Decatur and Danville. This could mean multiple days of wet and potentially disruptive weather for travel and agriculture.

Illinois residents should prepare for the unsettled conditions. The threat of storms will continue into Sunday, with a 40-50% chance forecasted.
