Springfield, Illinois – A shift in the weather pattern will bring showers and thunderstorms to central Illinois starting Tuesday night, continuing through the remainder of the week. Ahead of the approaching front, temperatures will climb to above-normal levels on Monday and Tuesday, with highs expected to reach the low 90s in some areas.

According to the National Weather Service, the stormy conditions will develop as a slow-moving front pushes into the region. This front will also bring smoky conditions that are expected to persist until tomorrow, causing reduced air quality and visibility.

Central Illinois will experience much warmer temperatures on Monday and Tuesday, with highs in the range of 82-90°F. Nighttime temperatures will be relatively mild, dipping to around 60-67°F. In addition to the warmer air, humidity will also increase, making conditions feel more oppressive as the week progresses.

For cities like Champaign, Decatur, and Bloomington, the risk of storms will peak by Tuesday night, with more widespread rainfall expected Wednesday. Travelers and residents are urged to stay informed of any changes to storm warnings or air quality advisories in the coming days.

As temperatures rise and storms approach, it’s important to stay aware of changing weather conditions and prepare for potential disruptions. Storms are expected to continue through the week, with additional weather alerts likely.
