Springfield, IL – Breezy and unseasonably warm conditions will continue across central Illinois through midweek before a late-week cold front brings widespread rain and cooler temperatures, according to the National Weather Service (NWS) Lincoln.

South winds gusting up to 30 mph will help boost highs into the mid-60s to near 70 degrees Tuesday and Wednesday under partly sunny skies. The warm, dry stretch will end Thursday as a frontal boundary approaches from the west, bringing increasing clouds and a 60% chance of rain Thursday night into Friday morning.

Forecasters say Friday will stay breezy with scattered showers continuing into the day, followed by a temperature drop heading into the weekend. Highs will fall to the mid-50s by Saturday, with lows dipping into the 30s and 40s overnight.

While the rain should taper off by late Saturday, cooler air will settle in across the region. The NWS notes that this front marks a return to more seasonable November weather following several mild, windy days.
