Chicago, IL — Isolated thunderstorms are anticipated in parts of central Illinois and northern Indiana this afternoon, posing a threat of damaging winds and possible flooding. The National Weather Service in Chicago warns that the storms could develop and intensify through 7 PM CDT, primarily affecting areas including Livingston County, Iroquois County, and Ford County in Illinois, as well as regions from northwest to northern Indiana.

According to the National Weather Service, the storms are expected to bring locally gusty winds that may down small branches and move light objects. Hail is also a potential hazard. Residents in the highlighted areas are advised to stay indoors if thunder is heard and to have multiple ways to receive weather alerts.

Severe weather conditions may also lead to heavy rain and flooding in some regions. The storms are predicted to develop between 4 PM and 7 PM EDT, moving east and south, exiting northwest Ohio before midnight. The public is urged to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions as the storm system progresses through the area.
