According to the National Weather Service, a cold front is set to move in early Thursday, bringing thunderstorms that could last into the afternoon. Showers will likely begin after midnight, with an 80% chance of precipitation and possible thunderstorms impacting Champaign and surrounding areas. Rainfall may accumulate between a tenth and a quarter of an inch, with isolated heavier downpours.
Thursday’s temperatures are expected to drop, with a high of 67°F and breezy west winds that will continue to gust near 30 mph. Following the storms, Friday will see cooler, more seasonable conditions, with highs around 58°F and light winds shifting from the west.
