Central Illinois residents should brace for gusty winds starting Tuesday as a cold front pushes through the region. Winds are expected to reach up to 30 mph, particularly in areas near I-70, as temperatures remain in the low 80s. This week’s weather will remain largely dry, with plenty of sunshine.

According to the National Weather Service, Tuesday will bring sunny skies with highs between 74 and 82 degrees, but strong north-northwest winds could impact outdoor activities and travel. Winds may gust between 25 and 30 mph, especially during the afternoon. Overnight lows will drop to around 44 degrees, providing cooler conditions.

Wednesday is expected to be calmer, with lighter winds and temperatures ranging from 70 to 74 degrees. The sunny and dry pattern will continue through the end of the week. Highs on Thursday and Friday will hover between 75 and 80 degrees, with lows dipping into the mid-40s to low 50s at night.

Travelers and residents are urged to secure outdoor items and stay alert for potentially strong wind gusts, especially near open highways such as I-70. With dry conditions expected all week, now is a good time to complete outdoor projects before cooler temperatures settle in.
