Champaign, IL — Thunderstorms are expected to begin west of I-57 Thursday night and continue through the weekend, according to the National Weather Service. Areas west of the interstate face a 20% to 60% chance of storms starting late Thursday, with scattered showers extending into Friday night.
These storms will gradually move eastward across central Illinois, bringing a cooling trend by Sunday. Highs will remain in the upper 80s through Saturday before temperatures dip into the low 80s on Sunday and the upper 50s by Sunday night.
Central Illinois residents should prepare for occasional showers and thunderstorms over the next several days. The highest chance of rain will be on Sunday and Monday as storms continue to creep eastward across the region.
