Warm October weather will give way to cooler conditions as a cold front sweeps through Central Illinois late Saturday. After two unseasonably warm days, with highs reaching into the mid-80s, residents should prepare for a sharp temperature drop starting Sunday. Expect daytime highs to fall from the 80s today and Saturday to the upper 50s by Monday.

According to the National Weather Service, isolated showers and thunderstorms are possible late Saturday evening, particularly along the I-55 corridor. While rain chances are minimal, the cold front will bring much cooler air, with the potential for frost early next week. Residents are advised to prepare for colder mornings, especially if they plan to travel or spend time outdoors.

By Monday and Tuesday, temperatures will struggle to reach 60 degrees, with overnight lows dipping into the upper 30s to low 40s. A frost advisory may be issued, so gardeners and those with sensitive plants should take precautions to cover them or bring them indoors.

Looking ahead, the forecast for Sunday calls for cooler, partly sunny skies with highs in the upper 60s. The cool trend continues into early next week, with Monday and Tuesday expected to be the coldest days. Stay informed about changing conditions, especially if traveling on major highways like I-72, where road conditions may be impacted by cooler and potentially wet weather.
