Orlando, FL – Central Florida is currently under siege from Hurricane Milton, bringing life-threatening conditions with torrential rain, strong winds, and significant flooding impacting the region now. As the storm continues to move through, Hurricane and Flash Flood Warnings remain in effect for much of Central Florida, with hurricane-force winds and heavy rain battering the area.
Current conditions include heavy rainfall and wind gusts reaching up to 40 mph, with sustained winds between 25 and 30 mph. Flooding is already occurring, particularly along the I-4 corridor, where additional rainfall amounts of 4 to 8 inches are expected, with some areas forecasted to receive up to 12 inches by the storm’s end. Flash Flood Warnings are in place for low-lying and flood-prone areas, and rivers and creeks are rapidly rising.
As of Thursday morning, tropical storm conditions are present across the region, with hurricane-force winds expected through much of the day. Residents are advised to stay indoors and avoid flooded roadways, as waters can rise quickly and conditions are extremely dangerous. The St. Johns River and other local waterways are at risk of reaching flood stage, with record-breaking flood levels possible in some areas.
Power outages have been reported across parts of Central Florida, with downed trees and debris causing road closures. The heavy rain will continue throughout the day, tapering off overnight into Friday. However, floodwaters will take time to recede, and hazardous conditions may persist.
As the storm exits toward the east coast near Cape Canaveral later today, wind gusts up to 40 mph will continue, particularly affecting Orange, Brevard, and Osceola counties. The worst of the storm is expected to pass by Friday, with calmer, sunny weather returning by Saturday.
