Melbourne, FL – The National Weather Service has issued a high-risk warning for rip currents today at all beaches along Florida’s east central coast. Beachgoers are strongly advised to avoid entering the water due to the life-threatening conditions.

According to the National Weather Service in Melbourne, numerous storms are expected along the coast, bringing wind gusts between 45 to 55 mph. These storms, coupled with strong rip currents, present hazardous conditions for swimmers and surfers. Residents and visitors are urged to remain onshore.

The National Weather Service further advises those in coastal areas to move indoors when thunder is heard. Lightning risks remain high, with precautions necessary to ensure safety. Rip currents can drag even strong swimmers into deeper waters, making them highly dangerous today.
