Pueblo, CO – A cold front sweeping across Colorado is set to bring sharply cooler temperatures and potential snow showers starting New Year’s Day. Residents should prepare for freezing nighttime lows and significant wind chill in some areas.

According to the National Weather Service in Pueblo, daytime highs on Wednesday will struggle to reach the low 40s in much of the region, while overnight lows are expected to drop into the teens. Snowfall is anticipated in higher elevations, particularly in the Sangre de Cristo and Wet Mountain ranges, with accumulation possible through Thursday.

While no significant snowfall is expected in lower elevations like Pueblo and Colorado Springs, isolated flurries and frost could make roads slick during early morning hours. Drivers traveling along I-25 and into the mountains are advised to carry chains and check road conditions frequently.

Temperatures are expected to rebound slightly later in the week, with highs climbing into the low 50s by Thursday and Friday. Despite the warming trend, nights will remain cold, with lows near 20 degrees.

The weather service predicts another system could develop over the weekend, potentially bringing additional precipitation and reinforcing the chilly pattern into next week. Residents are encouraged to dress warmly, monitor local forecasts, and use caution while driving.
