Little Rock, Arkansas – Unsettled weather is set to return across Arkansas by Wednesday afternoon, with thunderstorms and heavy rain threatening travel and outdoor plans.

According to the National Weather Service in Little Rock, a warm and humid air mass will push scattered thunderstorms into western and central Arkansas beginning late Wednesday [June 4]. While severe weather is not guaranteed, localized heavy downpours and minor flooding are possible — particularly along major routes like U.S. 65 and I-40 during the evening commute.

The first showers may develop after 1 p.m. Wednesday, increasing in coverage through the afternoon. A stronger round of storms could arrive after 4 p.m. in Little Rock, Conway, and Russellville. Thunderstorms will likely continue overnight into Thursday, with occasional lightning and gusty winds.

Temperatures will peak near 89°F Wednesday and 90°F Thursday under partly sunny skies. Rain chances increase again Thursday night into Friday, with more widespread activity possible into the weekend.

Travelers and residents should avoid flooded roads, monitor NOAA weather alerts, and secure outdoor items before storms move in. No organized severe weather outbreak is expected, but isolated strong cells can’t be ruled out.

⚠️ More storms are possible through Monday, so keep mobile devices charged and check back for updates throughout the week.
