San Antonio, Texas – Flash flooding is turning roads into rivers across central and southern Texas this morning, with San Antonio, Kerrville, and Kingsville among the hardest-hit cities as up to 4 inches of rain inundate the region.

According to the National Weather Service in Austin/San Antonio and Corpus Christi, flash flood warnings remain in effect through at least 8:15 a.m. Wednesday for Bexar, Comal, Guadalupe, Kendall, Bandera, Medina, Kerr, Nueces, and Kleberg counties. Doppler radar and rain gauges show between 1 and 4 inches of rainfall, with another 1 to 2 inches likely in some areas. Low water crossings have been reported flooded throughout the Hill Country and South Texas plains.

In San Antonio, Universal City, and New Braunfels, several roadways are closed or impassable. Kerrville, Boerne, and Bandera are also seeing life-threatening flooding in creeks and streets. Further south, Kingsville Naval Air Station and Bishop are dealing with severe ponding and fast-rising waters.

Drivers are urged to stay off roads, especially before sunrise, when flooded areas are harder to detect. Avoid all low-lying routes and heed “Turn Around, Don’t Drown” warnings.

Flash flood warnings are expected to expire later this morning, but more rain is possible. Stay tuned for updates as conditions evolve.
