Albany, NY – A mix of light snow and wintry precipitation is expected to affect much of Central and Eastern New York through Wednesday morning, with road conditions likely to deteriorate during early commutes.

According to the National Weather Service in Albany, a light accumulation of snow—generally under 2 inches—is forecast for most areas through 8 a.m. Wednesday, March 26, 2025. Higher totals are expected near Old Forge, where 3 to 5 inches of snowfall may accumulate. Areas such as Gloversville, Glens Falls, and Lebanon may see 1 to 2 inches.

The wintry mix will begin overnight Sunday and continue into Monday morning, with precipitation turning to rain by the afternoon. The combination of snow, sleet, and freezing rain could make untreated surfaces slick, especially during Monday morning’s commute. Temperatures are expected to hover near freezing during the transition period.

Motorists are advised to reduce speed and allow extra travel time, particularly during the early morning hours. Residents in higher elevations should remain especially alert, as conditions could change rapidly with terrain.

This weather system is typical for late March in upstate New York, though the timing may catch some commuters off guard. PennDOT and local DPWs are on standby to address icy conditions as they develop.
