Birmingham, AL – Residents across central Alabama can expect a mix of sunny skies and chilly conditions through Sunday along the I-20 corridor. Daytime highs will climb to the low-to-mid 50s Saturday, providing pleasant conditions for outdoor activities or Small Business Saturday shopping. However, temperatures will plummet quickly after sunset, with lows dipping into the upper 20s and frost likely overnight.

According to the National Weather Service, calm winds will accompany the clear skies, making the day feel warmer in the sun. Tonight, frost is expected in most areas, so travelers and late-night shoppers should bundle up and take precautions to protect outdoor plants or sensitive electronics.

Sunday brings more sunshine with slightly warmer highs near 54°F and calm breezes. Overnight temperatures will again drop, settling near 26°F. This pattern continues into the workweek, with Monday’s highs expected around 46°F and clear conditions holding steady.

Looking ahead, rain chances increase midweek, starting with a 30% chance of showers on Wednesday night. Temperatures will remain seasonal, ranging from mid-40s to mid-50s during the day and mid-20s to low 30s overnight.

Drivers along I-20, I-59, and I-65 should take advantage of the clear weather for errands or travel this weekend. However, prepare for slick spots early in the mornings as frost could develop on bridges or shaded areas.
