Albany, NY – A late-season snow system is expected to bring up to 3 inches of wet snow to portions of eastern New York, western Massachusetts, and southern Vermont beginning Friday night and continuing through early Saturday afternoon.

According to the National Weather Service in Albany, a Winter Weather Advisory is in effect from midnight to 2 p.m. Saturday, April 12, covering areas including Arkville, West Hurley, Pittsfield, and Stamford. Wet snow accumulation between 1 and 3 inches is expected, particularly in higher elevations and cooler surfaces.

Road conditions may become slick in the early morning hours, especially on untreated secondary roads. Commuters in areas such as Hudson, Poughkeepsie, and Hunter should allow extra time and exercise caution while driving. Visibility could also be reduced during periods of steady snowfall.

The snow is expected to mix with or follow periods of rain overnight, transitioning to a steadier snowfall by early Saturday. The highest snow chances—ranging from 30% to 50% for totals over 2 inches—are forecast in the eastern Catskills and Berkshires.

Residents are advised to monitor local alerts and avoid unnecessary travel during the advisory window. Snowfall rates and coverage may vary due to elevation and surface temperatures.
