Greenville, South Carolina – Morning showers are sweeping through the Upstate Sunday, with brief thunderstorms possible before drier but humid conditions return by midday.

According to the National Weather Service in Greenville-Spartanburg, rainfall chances will taper off after 11 a.m., but a stray afternoon storm can’t be ruled out—especially east of I-77. Highs will climb into the mid-to-upper 80s by late afternoon, with cities like Spartanburg, Anderson, and Gaffney reaching 87°F to 88°F.

Travelers should remain alert on I-85 and I-26 through late morning as wet pavement could reduce visibility and traction. Urban areas could see brief ponding during any heavier downpours.

Humidity levels will remain elevated, making it feel warmer than the actual temperature. Residents are advised to stay hydrated, limit strenuous activity during peak heat hours (2–6 p.m.), and monitor alerts in case a rogue storm develops.

This warm stretch follows an unseasonably wet start to June and sets the tone for a sticky week ahead.

More storms could return Monday as a new system approaches. Updates will be issued by NWS as conditions evolve.
