Albany, N.Y. – After a damp and mild start to the week, much of eastern New York will experience a noticeable warm-up heading into Thursday, with several cities hitting the low 80s before cooler air returns by the weekend.

According to the National Weather Service in Albany, Monday and Tuesday will bring scattered showers and thunderstorms, particularly across the Catskills, Saratoga Springs, and Glens Falls, where rain chances peak between 70–95%. Rain tapers off by Wednesday, setting the stage for warmer and drier conditions midweek.

By Thursday, maximum temperatures will reach 81°F in Albany, 84°F in Poughkeepsie, and 85°F in Torrington, Conn. Overnight lows will remain in the 60s, offering little relief from the heat during midweek. These warmer temperatures will be accompanied by lower rain chances—under 10% for most areas.

Travelers and commuters should be cautious early in the week, especially during evening hours when downpours could reduce visibility. Residents are advised to check sump pumps, clear gutters, and monitor for local advisories.

Cooler air begins moving in by Friday, with high temps dropping back into the 60s and low 70s. Rain chances increase again Saturday into Sunday, with 40–50% probabilities region-wide.
