Sacramento, CA – Powerful winds are sweeping through the Sacramento Valley Monday, with gusts reaching up to 55 mph along and west of I-5, prompting a Wind Advisory through 8 p.m..

According to the National Weather Service, north winds of 15 to 30 mph will intensify across the region, especially in the Carquinez Strait and Delta areas. Wind gusts are expected to peak at 45 to 55 mph, with the strongest activity along the I-5 corridor and foothill zones west of the highway. Sacramento itself is already seeing gusts near 34 mph early Monday.

Residents should secure patio furniture, outdoor equipment, and trash bins. Tree limbs could break, and isolated power outages are possible. The wind will also make travel difficult for high-profile vehicles, particularly on elevated roadways like I-80 and Highway 50.

Despite the wind threat, skies remain clear with highs soaring to 85°F Monday, rising to 88°F by Thursday. Overnight lows will dip into the 50s, offering brief nighttime relief. The wind is expected to weaken after sunset, bringing calmer conditions Tuesday morning.

  • Tuesday: Sunny, high near 87°F
  • Wednesday: Sunny, high near 81°F
