Apple Valley, Calif. – Strong winds could slam parts of Southern California beginning Friday afternoon, with gusts reaching up to 55 mph across the high desert and inland valleys through Saturday night.

According to the National Weather Service in San Diego, a Wind Advisory is in effect from 2 p.m. Friday until 11 p.m. Saturday for the Apple and Lucerne Valleys, San Diego County Deserts, and the San Gorgonio Pass near Banning. Southwest winds between 20 to 30 mph, with peak gusts topping 55 mph, are expected to impact cities including Borrego Springs, Victorville, Adelanto, Desert Hot Springs, and the Southern California Logistics Airport.

High-profile vehicles will face difficult driving conditions on I-15 and Highway 247, especially near open desert areas. Unsecured outdoor items may become airborne, and isolated power outages are possible due to downed tree limbs.

Residents should avoid non-essential travel in exposed areas and secure patio furniture, trash bins, and other lightweight items. Power companies recommend charging devices and preparing for brief service interruptions.

The advisory remains in effect through 11 p.m. Saturday, with further alerts possible if conditions worsen.
