Santa Barbara, CA – Strong winds are sweeping across parts of Santa Barbara County, with gusts up to 50 mph expected to continue through early Sunday morning. Coastal areas and mountain passes are bearing the brunt of the gusty conditions.

According to the National Weather Service in Los Angeles, the wind advisory now remains in effect until 6 a.m. PDT Sunday for the southwestern coast and the western range of the Santa Ynez Mountains. Locations impacted include Refugio State Beach, Gaviota, El Capitan State Beach, Jalama Beach, and San Marcos Pass.

Wind speeds are forecast to range between 20 to 30 mph with occasional gusts peaking near 50 mph. While winds may ease slightly Saturday morning, forecasters warn they will strengthen again late in the afternoon and continue into the evening hours.

Residents are urged to secure outdoor objects and remain alert for potential power outages caused by falling tree limbs. Drivers, especially those in high-profile vehicles, should use extra caution on exposed roadways such as U.S. Highway 101 and Route 154.
