Sacramento, CA – Residents across the Sacramento Valley are being urged to secure outdoor items and prepare for strong, gusty winds today as the National Weather Service in Sacramento maintains a Wind Advisory through 4 p.m. Wednesday.

Forecasters expect southerly winds of 15 to 25 mph, with gusts up to 45 mph across most of the valley and up to 55 mph in the Delta region, including Fairfield/Suisun and areas near Carquinez Strait.

The strongest winds are expected Wednesday morning, gradually decreasing by afternoon. Officials warn that the gusty conditions could down tree limbs, knock out power, and make driving difficult for high-profile vehicles—particularly on Interstate 5, Highway 99, and I-80 through the Delta and foothills.

Residents are encouraged to use caution outdoors, avoid parking under trees, and secure loose objects such as patio furniture, holiday decorations, and garbage bins.

Winds are expected to ease by late afternoon as the storm system moves east over the Sierra Nevada.
